Judge No 12. Stephen Wark Photography NSW Australia
We are a Newcastle based Photography Studio. My photographic interest began in 1987, when I purchased my first camera. My enthusiasm grew, I read many books and magazines on photography and experimented with the ideas I picked up. As I progressed from black and white to colour I peppered my field and studio experience with a string of formal photography courses. After being invited to teach I specialised in digital photography and computer enhancement. Then I landed a job with a major Australian media group. After completing a year at business college I began my parallel commercial photography business which currently runs along side my media photography and has been for the past 5 years.

Members of the Judging Panel review entries and judge the images based on artistic merit, originality, subject, style and ultimately decide the winners.
Who votes and how are the votes counted?
(a). All Judging Panel members vote on the images.
(b). Votes are tallied using the consensus-based Borda Count Method. The Borda count is a single-winner election method in which voters rank images in order of preference. The Borda count determines the winner of an election by giving each candidate a certain number of points corresponding to the position in which he or she is ranked by each voter. Once all votes have been counted the candidate with the most points is the winner. Because it sometimes elects broadly acceptable candidates, rather than those preferred by the majority, the Borda count is often described as a consensus-based electoral system, rather than a majoritarian one. Under the Borda count the voter ranks the list of candidates in order of preference. So, for example, the voter gives a '1' to their first preference, a '2' to their second preference, and so on.
(c). Judges rank images in order of preference with each rank having a certain number of points. Statistical weight is placed on the position (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Honourable) given by the judges. The image with the most points is the winner.
